abstract A shock absorbing member (50) which is provided with a ceramic assembly (15) that comprises: a plurality of first sheet-like members (5), each of which is formed of a ceramic containing 60% by mass or more of boron carbide and has a thickness of 0.1-50 mm; and a bonding layer that is arranged between two adjacent first sheet-like members (5) and bonds the bonding surfaces of the adjacent first sheet-like members (5) with each other, said bonding surfaces facing each other. The bonding layer is formed of a bonding material that contains at least one metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum, copper, silver and gold.
