This honeycomb structure manufacturing method includes a step for forming a ceramic block by joining via an adhesive layer a plurality of columnar honeycomb fired bodies in which a plurality of cells set apart by cell walls are arranged in close rows in the longitudinal direction. The honeycomb structure manufacturing method is characterized in that a joining step is for forming the ceramic blocks by sequentially stacking a plurality of honeycomb fired bodies on a support base, the step including a mounting position determination step, a securing step, and a mounting step, and is characterized in that a first and second position determining step are conducted prior to the securing step for securing, the position of an end face of a second honeycomb fired body on the basis of a lateral face of a first honeycomb fired body which is the object of mounting and the number of the second honeycomb fired bodies present at a position facing such lateral face of the first honeycomb fired body. |
