The invention relates to the use of an inorganic salt of bismuth, more specifically bismuth oxychloride, as a sun protection agent, as well as to synthesis methods for obtaining optimised bismuth oxychloride having specific photoprotection characteristics that provide optimum stability, effectiveness and safety in order to protect against damage to the skin and/or hair and/or facial hair and/or body hair caused by the sun's UV radiation. The invention also relates to different compositions having safe and effective concentrations of bismuth oxychloride, such as to offer protection values above those normally obtained with organic agents and inorganic agents known in the prior art, across the entire ultraviolet spectrum (290 to 400nm). The physico-chemically characterised compound has critical wavelengths greater than 380nm and, as such, is a broad-spectrum protector. |
