abstract The invention relates to a method and to a system for producing nitrobenzene, in particular continuously, by means of adiabatic nitration of benzene with nitric acid in the presence of sulfuric acid, wherein after the nitration, a multistage concentration of the sulfuric acid is performed by means of heating at pressure that is reduced with respect to ambient pressure and wherein the heating is performed by using the heat produced in the adiabatic nitration of benzene.
