abstract The invention relates to a method and associated system for aligning and engaging upper and lower modules of an underwater turbine along a vertical support axis. The system utilises a pin provided on either the upper or lower module and a corresponding socket provided on the other of the upper or lower modules. The pin has a tapered end to facilitate alignment of the modules toward the support axis as the pin and socket engage. A collar is provided on the upper module and has a lower bearing surface angled with respect to the support axis. A collar is also provided on the lower module having an upper bearing surface angled relative to the support axis such that as the pin and socket engage, the upper and lower bearing surfaces come into contact with one another to rotate the upper collar into a final angular orientation around the support axis.
