abstract The present invention relates to a method for preparing a thioepoxy-based optical material, to a polymerizable composition thereof and to a thioepoxy compound for the composition. The present invention provides a thioepoxy compound for an optical material, containing 4 to 15 % by weight of a 2,3-epoxypropyl(2,3-epithiopropyl) sulfide compound and/or a 2,3-epoxypropyl(2,3-epithiopropyl) disulfide compound. The present invention also provides a polymerizable composition comprising the thioepoxy compound and a method for preparing an optical material for polymerizing the composition. The present invention solves the problems of color instability, deformation and polymerization imbalance in a thioepoxy-based optical material.
