Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) strains cause extra-intestinal infections and are responsible for significant economic losses in the poultry industry worldwide. The aim of the present invention was to delete three genes; hcp, which encodes a secreted structural protein; elpV, which encodes an ATPase; and icmF (intracellular multiplication factor), generating three mutants that exhibited reduced cell adhesion and invasion, formation of biofilms, and virulence, in vivo . The present invention therefore describes the three mutant strains that were developed, the vaccines produced using said strains, the method for producing said vaccines and uses thereof. |
