A microcapsule pigment which contains at least a dye that is characterized by being formed of a leuco dye represented by formula (I), a developer and a color change temperature regulator; and an ink composition for writing materials, which is characterized by containing this microcapsule pigment. (In formula (I), each of X and Y represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms or a halogen atom, and X and Y may be the same as or different from each other. In this connection, X and Y are not hydrogen atoms at the same time.)
