abstract The involvement of a known miRNA and its target in the heat stress response of plants is provided. Downregulation of said miRNA, upregulation of its target, reducing or eliminating binding of said miRNA to its target, and/or reducing or eliminating cleavage of said target by said miRNA provide strategies to improve heat tolerance in said plants. Also provided are strategies to downregulate said miRNA, upregulate said target, reduce or eliminate binding of said miRNA to its target and/or cleavage of said target by said miRNA.
