abstract A hernia repair device includes a surgical mesh configured to extend across a tissue defect and a plurality of filament loops coupled to the surgical mesh toward an outer periphery thereof. A tissue retracting member is slidably disposed about each of the filament loops. Each tissue retracting member is configured for slidable movement about the filament loop between a first position, wherein the tissue retracting member is spaced-apart from the surgical mesh, and a second position, wherein the tissue retracting member is positioned adjacent the surgical mesh to facilitate the retraction of tissue surrounding the tissue defect.
