abstract | The purpose of the present invention is to provide an organic EL device in which precipitation of an additive in a λ/4 phase difference film is prevented; environmental fluctuation in the phase difference value is minimized; a high-definition image is produced; and a reduction in image quality, degradation in hue by UV light over time, and a decrease in light extraction efficiency are minimized. This organic EL display device includes a light-emitting element, and a circularly polarizing plate arranged on the observation side of the light-emitting element. The circularly polarizing plate includes: a polarizer; a λ/4 phase difference film arranged between the polarizer and the light-emitting element; and a protective film arranged on the observation side of the polarizer, the protective film being capable of absorbing UV light. The λ/4 phase difference film contains a cellulose ester in which the degree of acetyl group substitution (X) satisfies the formula (1) 2.7≤(X)≤3.0, compound (A) represented by the formula below, a UV absorption agent having an OH group, and a phase difference value elevation agent. The λ/4 phase difference film satisfies the formulae (2) 100≤Ro≤170 nm and 0≤Rth≤300 nm, where Ro represents the phase difference value in the in-plane direction and Rth represents the phase difference in the thickness direction with respect to light having a wavelength of 550 nm. |
