abstract The present invention relates to a high frequency electronic ballast used in a high intensity discharge lamp, comprising a filter-rectifier unit (1), and a DC/AC converter (2) connected to the filter-rectifier unit (1), wherein the high frequency electronic ballast further comprises a control unit (3) which is connected, at one side, to the filter-rectifier unit (1) for collecting a DC voltage and a ripple voltage in the DC voltage, and is connected, at the other side, to a frequency control sweeping unit (4) that produces a control signal based on the DC voltage and the ripple voltage and transmits the control signal to the control unit (3), the control unit (3) controls the DC/AC converter (2) to output a current having a working frequency in accordance with the control signal, the working frequency is a frequency which swept with respect to a preset center frequency of the high intensity discharge lamp (5) by a preset frequency sweeping range. In addition, the present invention further relates to a high intensity discharge lamp, and a method for controlling a high intensity discharge lamp comprising the high frequency electronic ballast.
