This skin cleanser composition comprises: an alkyl ether carboxylic acid represented by general formula (1) or a salt thereof, whereby the average number of carbon atoms in R 1 is 10.8-12.8, components for which n=0 exceed 9.6 mass% and comprise at most 27 mass%, and the combined total of components for which n=1 and components for which n=2 is at least 21 mass% and less than 40 mass%; and a polyoxyethylene alkyl sulfate or an alkyl sulfate represented by general formula (2). In general formula (1), R 1 represents a C4-22 alkyl group, n represents a number from 0-20, and M represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, ammonium or organic ammonium. In general formula (2), R 2 represents a C8-22 alkyl group or alkenyl group, m represents a number from 0-20, the average of m is at least 2 and less than 4, and Y represents a hydrogen atom,or a cation selected from an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, ammonium, alkyl ammonium, alkanol ammonium, and glucammonium.
