abstract The invention relates to a method for preparing poly(hydroxy)methyl-functional siloxanes of general formula (I), wherein cyclic compounds which have at least one unit of the general formula (II) [SiR 2 (OR 3 )-CH 2 -O] n are reacted with water, wherein optionally one or more additional hydrolyzable compounds of the general formula (III) R 1 n 3-z SiY 1+z , can be present and R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , Y, k, m, n, p, q, s, t, y and z can have the meanings as defined in claim 1. The invention further relates to poly(hydroxy)methyl-functional siloxanes.
