abstract The invention relates to an isolated nucleotide sequence characterized in that it codes for the PFR1 protein of Leishmania infantum or a fragment of same, said PFR1 protein or a fragment of same includes at least one immunodominant epitope selected from the following group: SEQ ID No: 1, SEQ ID No: 2, SEQ ID No: 3, SEQ ID No: 4, SEQ ID No: 5, SEQ ID No: 6, SEQ ID No: 7 and SEQ ID No: 8, wherein said immunodominant epitope is able to induce a T cytotoxic immune response specific to the antigen of an animal, with respect to the kinetoplastids that cause leishmaniasis. Said immunodominant epitopes activate T cytotoxic lymphocytes and show high bonding affinity for the class I, type A2 MHC molecule.
