abstract The objective of the present invention is to prevent misjudgment of the start of fastening of a friction fastening element when a drive source undergoes rotational fluctuation due to a disturbance factor other than the start of fastening of the friction fastening element. A device for controlling a hybrid vehicle is provided with: a drive source including at least an engine (Eng) and a motor/generator (MG); a second brake (B2) that is fastened when a D range is selected; a control means (step S3 in fig. 6) that, by means of controlling the rotational frequency of the motor/generator (MG), maintains the input rotational frequency of the second brake (B2) at the start of fastening control; and a fastening start judgment means that judges that the second brake (B2) has started fastening when, in a range for starting second brake (B2) fastening control, a parameter that changes alongside the engine (Eng) undergoing rotational fluctuation becomes at least a predetermined threshold. The judgment is started (step S6, S9) after waiting from the start of second brake (B2) fastening control until a predetermined time at which it can be determined that the rotational fluctuations of the motor/generator (MG) and the engine (Eng) due to a disturbance factor other than the start of fastening of the second brake (B2) have converged.
