abstract |
Provided is a highly-reliable organic electroluminescence element which suppresses loss of light from surface plasmons generated on a metal surface, which increases the efficiency with which light is extracted to outside of the element, and which is not prone to short circuits within the element. This organic electroluminescence element is provided with a metal layer (1) having in the surface nanosize concavities/convexities formed by a nanoparticle arrangement structure (6) in which nanoparticles (6a) are planarly arranged; and an organic layer (3) disposed on the concave/convex surface of the metal layer (1) and configured from multiple layers including a light-emitting layer (31). The interfaces between the layers in the organic layer (3) have flatter surfaces than the concave/convex surface of the metal layer. |
