titleOfInvention |
Liquid crystal composition having negative dielectric anisotropy and liquid crystal display element using liquid crystal composition |
abstract |
The liquid crystal composition of the invention is characterized in comprising a first component that is at least one compound selected from compounds represented by general formula (I), a second component that is at least one compound selected from compounds represented by general formula (II), and a third component that is at least one compound selected from compounds represented by general formula (III). It is possible to improve at least one of the absolute values of Δε or η without reducing the size of Δn or reducing T ni by combining the compound represented by general formula (I), the compound represented by general formula (II), and the compound represented by general formula (III) and adding the combination to a liquid crystal composition. Thus, by means of the invention it is possible to obtain a liquid crystal composition with a larger absolute value of Δε or a liquid crystal composition with a smaller η without destroying the balance between the property values of Δnand T ni . |
