abstract Disclosed are a method and a system for selecting an energy-saving cell. The method comprises: an energy-saving base station, according to measuring and reporting information of a UE in an energy-saving cell of the energy-saving base station, obtaining an RF mode of the energy-saving cell and transferring the RF mode to a control base station; and the control base station, according to reporting and measuring information of a UE in a cell of the control base station and an RF mode of each energy-saving cell, selecting to switch on the energy-saving cell. In the method of the present invention, an RF mode of an energy-saving cell is extracted, and the RF mode of the energy-saving cell is transferred to a control base station, so as to assist the control base station in judging payload in a coverage of the energy-saving cell according to a measuring report of a UE, and optimize efficiency of selecting and switching on an energy-saving cell.
