abstract | Provided is a polyimide precursor and/or a polyimide which has excellent solubility in various organic solvents and particularly enables the production of a liquid crystal alignment film that has excellent rubbing resistance and is rarely deteriorated upon the irradiation with back light. A polyimide precursor characterized in that a terminal amino group therein is modified with at least one alicyclic epoxydicarboxylic acid anhydride selected from the group consisting of those represented by general formula [1] and general formula [2]; and a polyimide produced by imidizing the polyimide precursor. (In the formulae, Y represents an alkylene group having 1 or 2 carbon atoms or an oxygen atom; and R 1 represents a hydrogen atom or an organic group represented by -X 1 -X 2 -X 3 wherein X 1 represents a single bond or -CH 2 -, X 2 represents a single bond or -O-, and X 3 represents an alkyl group having 1-20 carbon atoms, a haloalkyl group having 1-20 carbon atoms, or an alkyl group having 1-20 carbon atoms which contains a cyano group.) |
