The present invention relates to a catalyst support body containing an SiO 2 -containing material and a metal selected from the group consisting of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, rare earth metals and mixtures thereof, wherein the total metal content is in the range from 0.5 to 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the catalyst support. In addition, the present invention relates to a catalyst that comprises a catalyst support body according to the invention and a catalytically active metal, in particular palladium and/or gold. The present invention also relates to a method for producing a catalyst support according to the invention, wherein an SiO 2 -containing material is treated with a metal-containing compound, dried and then calcined. A further embodiment of the present invention relates to a method for producing a catalyst according to the invention, in which a solution having a precursor compound of a catalytically active metal is applied to the a catalyst support body according to the invention. |
