abstract The present invention relates to a separator and to an electrochemical device including same. The separator includes a porous base material and a porous coating layer formed on at least one surface of the porous base material, the porous coating layer including a mixture of inorganic particles and a binder polymer, wherein a continuous or discontinuous pattern layer, into which an electrolyte permeates, is formed on the surface of the porous coating layer. The separator, including the porous coating layer having continuous grooves into which the electrolyte permeates, has continuous grooves into which the electrolyte permeates to improve wettability. Thus, the time required for impregnating the separator with the electrolyte may be reduced.
