abstract A magnet carrier for a moving magnet actuator. The magnet carrier includes a single longitudinal beam extending in the direction of intended motion of magnet carrier and two pairs of transverse ribs, extending from opposite sides of the longitudinal beam. The longitudinal beam and the two pairs of transverse ribs are arranged to engage a pair of substantially planar magnets. The single longitudinal beam and the two pairs of transverse ribs each comprise a lip for engaging a chamfered edge of a pair of substantially planar magnets so that the lip opposes motion of the magnets in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the magnets. The longitudinal beam and the transverse ribs are adhered to the magnets by an adhesive with an elastic modulus of less than 5 MPa and a tensile strain of greater than 100%.
