abstract |
Provided is a sealed honeycomb structure whereby it is possible to minimize the pressure loss and to improve the durability of the sealed honeycomb structure. A sealed honeycomb structure (100) provided with: a honeycomb structure (4) having a porous partitioning wall (1) for partitioning and forming outflow cells (2b) and inflow cells (2a); an outflow-side sealing part (5b); and an inflow-side sealing part. A plurality of cells (2) is configured such that the opening areas of the inflow cells (2a) are larger than the opening areas of the outflow cells (2b) in the cross-section of the honeycomb structure (4). At least one of the outflow cells (2b) functions as a reinforcing cell (22) in which a reinforcing part (6) for reinforcing the outflow cell (2b) is formed on at least one corner (21a) intersecting with the partitioning wall (1) in a cross-section that is perpendicular to the direction in which the cells (2) extend, and the inflow cells (2a) function as a non-reinforcing cell in which the reinforcing part (6) is not formed on any of the corners (21) intersecting with the partitioning wall (1) in a cross-section that is perpendicular to the direction in which the cells (2) extend. |
