abstract Provided is an amplification optical fibre which can output light having a desired power, and also provided are an optical fibre amplifier and resonator which use the amplification optical fibre. An amplification optical fibre (50) has a core (51) and cladding (52) that covers the core (51). The core (51) propagates light of a prescribed wavelength in at least LP01 mode, LP02 mode, and LP03 mode. In at least part of a region in the core (51) where the intensity of at least one of the LP02 mode and LP03 mode is higher than the intensity of the LP01 mode when the LP01 mode, LP02 mode, and LP03 mode are standardised in terms of power, an active element that performs induced emission of light of a prescribed wavelength is added in a concentration that is higher than that in at least part of a region where the intensity of the LP01 mode is higher than the intensity of the LP02 mode and LP03 mode.
