abstract | A method for determining the responsiveness of a mammalian tumor cell to treatment with an inhibitor of the phosphoinosite 3-kinase (PI3K) and/or mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, said method comprising determining the c-MYC and/or NOTCH1 level in said tumor cell, wherein said level is indicative of whether the cell is likely to respond or is responsive to the treatment. It further refers to an in vitro method for the identification of a resistance to treatment or of predicting or monitoring the efficacy of treatment, of solid tumor cancer with an inhibitor of the PI3K and/or mTOR pathway in a patient suffering from said cancer. It further refers to a combination comprising an amount of an inhibitor of the PI3K and/or mTOR pathway, and an amount of a c-MYC and/or NOTCH 1 inhibitor. |
