abstract |
The objective of the present invention is to provide: a modified PVA solution that enables physical properties such as viscosity to be controlled even if the concentration of the modified PVA solution, which exhibits hydrophobicity, is increased; and a method for producing such a modified PVA solution. The present invention is a modified vinyl alcohol polymer solution containing a modified vinyl alcohol polymer, an organic solvent, and water; the modified vinyl alcohol polymer contains a monomer unit having an alkyl group having 2-29 carbon atoms inclusive, the percentage of the monomer unit contained being 0.05-5 mol% inclusive; the degree of saponification of the modified vinyl alcohol polymer is 20-99.99 mol% inclusive; the δd of the organic solvent under the Hansen solubility parameters is 13-18 MPa 0.5 inclusive; δp is 4-9 MPa 0.5 inclusive, and δh is 9-13 MPa 0.5 inclusive. |
