abstract |
Silicone hydrogel contact lenses are described. The lenses are derived from a polymerizable composition including 30-60 unit parts by weight of a hydrophilic monomer(s) having one N-vinyl group; 1 to 30 unit parts by weight of a first siloxane monomer component comprising a siloxane monomer of formula (1) as described herein or a siloxane monomer of formula (2) as described herein or a siloxane monomer of formula (3) as described herein or any combination thereof; and 10 to 39 unit parts by weight of a second siloxane monomer component comprising 3-[tris (trimethylsilyloxy) silyl] propyl methacrylate (TRIS), or MCS-Ml 1, or both; where the polymerizable composition is free of Ν,Ν-dimethylacrylamide (DMA); and a total amount of siloxane monomers present in the polymerizable composition is from 15 to 40 unit parts by weight. Batches of silicone hydrogel contact lenses and methods of making silicone hydrogel contact lenses are also described. |
