abstract The invention relates to a system (150, 550) for visualizing characteristic tissue with dye in an operation area (152). The system (150) contains a detection device (170), which detects light from at least one object point (168). The system (150) has a computer unit (202) connected to the detection device (170) and serving for driving a visualization device (208, 210), which displays an image of a region in the operation area (152). According to the invention, the computer unit (202) determines the colour locus in a colour space with respect to the light from a point from the at least one object point in the operation area (152). Depending on the position of the colour locus determined with respect to the object point (168), said computer unit calculates a colour locus information item ("0", "1") for controlling the visualization device (208) by comparing information concerning the determined colour locus of the object point (168) with information concerning a characteristic reference colour locus.
