abstract The invention relates to a method for modeling the change in the pH of a porous medium following the injection of an alkaline-agent solution into said medium. The alkaline agent is considered to be a sodium-hydroxide pseudo-component, having a concentration equal to the OH- concentration corresponding to the pH of the injected alkaline agent. Then, an absorption equation based on experimental data is used to determine a quantity of the sodium-hydroxide pseudo-component that has been absorbed from the total concentration of the sodium-hydroxide pseudo-component. Finally, the change in pH is modeled by modeling the transport of the alkaline agent solution using a sodium-hydroxide transport simulator while replacing the sodium hydroxide with the sodium-hydroxide pseudo-component.
