abstract An implementation method and apparatus for priority of devices in a Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) backup group are disclosed by the present invention, wherein, the method includes: when a predetermined time arrives, obtaining the current forwarding ability of each device and the traffic currently borne by each device (S502); updating the recorded priority of each device in each VRRP backup group, respectively according to the recorded priority of each device in each VRRP backup group, the recorded residual bandwidth of the device and the obtained the current forwarding ability of the device and the traffic currently borne by the device (S504). With the present invention, the VRRP device can implement balanced bearing of the forwarding load of a network in the environment of the multiple VRRP backup groups.
