abstract [Problem] To provide a scintillator for neutrons, which has excellent neutron detection efficiency, an excellent S/N ratio and excellent n/γ discrimination ability; and an eutectic which is suitable as the scintillator for neutrons.n[Solution] A metal fluoride eutectic comprising a lithium fluoride crystalline phase and a crystalline phase represented by the chemical formula: Ca 1-x Sr x F 2 (wherein x is a numeral value larger than 0 and not smaller than 1), such as SrF 2 and Ca 0.5 Sr 0.5 F 2 , wherein the crystalline phases are separated from each other; a scintillator for neutrons, which comprises the eutectic; and a neutron imaging device which comprises a combination of the scintillator for neutrons and a position-sensitive photomultiplier tube.
