abstract |
The present invention includes a method to quantify biomarkers. The biomarker comprises one or more chemicals that are related to a physiological condition. The method also includes using an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer to perform an X-ray fluorescence analysis on the sample to obtain spectral features derived from the biomarker; and quantifying the X-ray fluorescence signal of the biomarker. The present invention further includes a method to identify one or more abnormal portions of a sample. The method includes providing a clinical sample disposed on or in a sample holder. The method optionally includes obtaining multiple X-ray fluorescence analysis wherein the sample is disposed at at least two different angles relative to the excitation source. The method further optionally includes the step of constructing a tomogram. |
