abstract An electrophoretic display device and a production method thereof. The electrophoretic display layer (130) of the electrophoretic display device comprises a plurality of basic display units; each basic display unit comprises a group of micro-pool subunits (411, 412, 413, 414). Each of the micro-pool subunits (411, 412, 413, 414) consists of micro-pools (311, 312, 313, 314) that allow the communication of the infusion of electrophoretic display liquid after encapsulation. The production method comprises: encapsulating the electrophoretic display layer (130) with the communicating micro-pools (311, 312, 313, 314), a transparent common electrode panel (110, 120), and a control electrode panel (150) to form a complete micro-pool array box that is empty; then infusing the electrophoretic display liquid into the micro-pools (311, 312, 313, 314) of the electrophoretic display layer (130). The production method is technically relatively simple, is easy to implement, and solves the problem of mixed display liquid with the microcup technology. Also, the display of multiple color and full color can be achieved through a certain combination of electrophoretic display liquid.
