abstract |
The invention relates to a combined electron and X-ray therapy device. The therapy device comprises a beam head which can be rotated about an axis of rotation and in which an electron beam device for producing an electron beam field and an X-ray device for producing an X-ray field are located. In the operational state both beam fields can be directed onto a target volume, for example a patient's tumour. Both beam devices comprise a separate electron accelerator which is optimised for the particular mode of operation. The RF power required for operating the accelerator is provided by a common RF source which is connected to both accelerators via a diverter. Depending upon the mode of operation, the diverter guides the RF power provided onto the particular accelerator. |
