abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel flavonol 8-hydroxylase. The present invention relates to a flavin enzyme protein that has flavonol 8-hyroxylase activity, and a polynucleotide etc. that codes the flavin enzyme protein. The present invention provides: a polynucleotide that includes, for example, the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1 or 3; a polynucleotide that codes a protein comprising an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID No. 2; an expression vector and a transformant that include the polynucleotide; a plant screening method that causes yellow flowers to bloom by using the polynucleotide; a plant producing method that causes yellow flowers to bloom by introducing the polynucleotide into host cells; and a method for producing a flavin enzyme protein that has flavonol 8-hydroxylase activity, said method using the transformant.
