abstract Provided are a method and a device for forming tissue pieces, whereby, when winding sheet-like tissue pieces into rolls, the tissue pieces can be wound onto core rods in a stable manner and with good precision. A tissue piece is used as individual tissue pieces in a tissue array obtained by arranging the tissue pieces on a substrate in an array shape. The formation method for forming a roll-shaped tissue piece (6), obtained by winding a sheet-like tissue piece (8) into roll, is characterized in that: the sheet-like tissue piece (8) is produced by slicing a tissue block (5) obtained by embedding tissue using an embedding medium; the sheet-like tissue piece (8) is placed on a mounting block (12); a peeling means (13) is applied between the mounting block (12) and the sheet-like tissue piece (8) in such a manner that the tissue piece (8) can easily be peeled from the mounting block (12); and the core rod (11) is wound onto the tissue piece (8) while heating the tissue piece (8) on the mounting block (12).
