titleOfInvention Process for manufacturing acrolein from glycerol
abstract The subject of the present invention is a process for preparing acrolein and/or acrylic acid by dehydration of glycerin in the presence of molecular oxygen in an amount chosen so as to be outside the flammability range at any point in the plant, characterized in that said dehydration is carried out in the presence of a catalyst comprising as a main component, a mixed oxide containing niobium oxide NbOx and at least one element taken from the group of tungsten, molybdenum and chromium. The process according to the invention permits to obtain acrolein at higher yield.
