abstract |
In order to improve the high-temperature life-span properties of a nickel hydride battery, the disclosed nickel hydride battery is equipped with: a positive electrode containing positive electrode active material including a nickel compound; a negative electrode containing negative electrode active material including a hydrogen storing alloy; a separator which is sandwiched between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and an alkaline electrolyte. The discharge reserve amount of the negative electrode is 4-15% of the capacity of the positive electrode, and the ratio (Cn/Cp) of the negative electrode capacity (Cn) to the positive electrode capacity (Cp) is 1.4-1.6. The negative electrode active material includes, for example, magnetic clusters containing at least 5 mass% of metallic nickel. |
