Provided is a method for producing ceramic for heat-radiating members, using as a raw material alumina powder containing at least 99.5mass% alumina (Al2O3) and having an average particle diameter of 0.2 to 1μm. The method comprises: a granularization step in which said powder is rendered into granules having a particle diameter of 50 to 100μm; a molding step in which a raw material containing the granular alumina obtained in said granularization step is pressure-molded, and a sintering step in which the molding obtained in the molding step is heated under atmospheric conditions, and sintered at a sintering temperature of 1480 to 1600°C. According to the present invention, it is possible to provide: a method for producing ceramic heat-radiating members, said ceramic being alumina sintered compact which has high thermal conductivity, can be used to achieve highly efficient radiating properties, can be used in cooling applications in heat-generating areas of electronic devices and the like, and which has excellent mechanical strength and shock resistance; and a ceramic for heat-radiating members, said ceramic being an alumina sintered compact which can exhibit the aforementioned functions, and which has minimal crystal grain growth. |
