abstract A method and equipment for saving energy are disclosed in the embodiments of the present invention. The method includes the following steps that: a first network node acquires load information of a second network node which is adjacent to the first network node, and changes the energy saving state according to the load information of the first network node and the load information of the second network node; the first network node or the second network node sends the energy saving state indication information to an adjacent third network node, and notifies the third network node of the information, which represents that the first network node or the second network node changes the energy saving state, by the energy saving state indication information. The embodiments of the present invention optimize the resource utilization ratio of the whole network.
