Method and device for measuring temperatures, in particular cryogenic temperatures, with the aid of semiconducting nanocrystals. To measure the temperature of an object (20), use is made of a sensor (24) comprising semiconducting nanocrystals, the nanocrystals are placed in thermal contact with the object, the nanocrystals are irradiated with an excitation light (26) such that they emit a fluorescence radiation (28), the decay time of the radiation is determined and the temperature is determined on the basis of this time. According to the invention, the excitation light (26) is modulated with a modulation signal, the phase shift between the modulation signal for the excitation light, which is reflected by the sensor, and the fluorescence radiation detected (28) is measured, and the decay time is determined on the basis of the phase shift thus measured. |
