The invention relates to a liquid-metal-cooled fast-neutron reactor core having a low draining effect. The core comprises, from top to bottom, a neutron-absorbing upper zone (8), a liquid-metal plenum zone (10), an upper fertile zone (12), an intermediate fertile zone (14) and a lower fissile zone (16). The horizontal mid-plane (P1) of the intermediate fertile zone, of height HFE*, lies beneath the horizontal mid-plane (P2) of the assembly formed by the lower and upper fissile zones and the intermediate fertile zone, the ratio of HFE* to the height of this assembly varying from 0.25 to 0.40. |
