Provided are an agent for inhibiting viral infection and/or treating an infectious disease whereby viral infection can be inhibited without being affected by a change in the virus such as the appearance of a subspecies or a variant, and a method for inhibiting viral infection and/or treating an infectious disease. The entry of a virus into a cell is inhibited by using, as the active ingredient(s), a substance capable of inhibiting calcium ion influx into cells and/or a substance capable of forming a chelate with calcium ion. By using the aforesaid agent for inhibiting viral infection and treating an infectious disease, viral infection can be inhibited or a viral infectious disease can be treated, both over a wide range of virus strains for a prolonged period of time, without being affected by a change in the virus such as the appearance of a subspecies or a variant. |
