Provided is a method for producing a photoluminescence phosphor that is an acid nitride phosphor comprising α-sialon as the main component, whereby the luminance of a white LED, using a blue LED as the light source, can be enhanced. The method for producing the α-sialon-based acid nitride phosphor is characterized by comprising baking a mixed powder in a nitrogen-containing inert gas atmosphere at 1400-2000 o C, said mixed powder containing an amorphous silicon nitride powder that has a non-dense bulk density of 0.16-0.22 g/cm 3 and having been blended in such a manner as to give a product represented by formula: M x Si 12-(m+n) Al (m+n) O n N 16-n :Ln y [wherein M represents Li, Ca, Mg, Y or one or more kinds of lanthanide metals except La and Ce; and Ln represents one or more kinds of lanthanide metals selected from among Eu, Dy, Er, Tb and Yb]. |
