abstract |
The invention relates to a system for preparing polymerized bone cement, including two components that react with each other when mixed, so as to form a solid polymer material. The first component includes a biocompatible acrylic polymer and an initiator capable of initiating a polymerization reaction, and the second component includes a monomer capable of dissolving an acrylic polymer, a polymerization activator, and a polymerization inhibitor. In said system, the second component also includes a biocompatible acrylic polymer that is dissolved in said monomer, which is identical to or different from the polymer of the first component and has a mean molar mass greater than 1 000 000 g/mol and a residual initiator content less than 0.1% so as to form a gel having a predetermined viscosity. The invention also relates to a composition for forming the second component of a system used for preparing such cement. |
