Disclosed are: an anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber that can be used to obtain a thermosetting resin molding material that has high mechanical strength; a method for manufacturing said anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber; a molding material containing said anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber and a thermosetting resin; and a method for manufacturing said molding material. The disclosed molding material contains a thermosetting resin and, per 100 weight parts of the thermosetting resin, between 10 and 900 weight parts of an anion-modified microfibrillated plant fiber that has been anion-modified, in the presence of a base, by a carboxylic acid represented by formula (I) or a salt thereof.n(I) X-(CH 2 ) n -COOHn(In formula (I), X represents a halogen atom and n represents 1 or 2.) |
