abstract The present invention relates to xylitol dehydrogenase expressed from a novel xylitol dehydrogenase gene, to a method for preparing xylitol dehydrogenase from a strain transformed by a recombinant expression vector containing the gene, and to a method for producing L-xylulose using the enzyme. A recombinant xylitol dehydrogenase of the present invention specifically only transforms xylitol, and stably catalyzes an enzymatic reaction. Xylitol dehydrogenase derived from Rhizobium etli and a method for producing L-xylulose may be efficiently used for the mass production of L-xylulose.
