abstract Provided are an organic solvent dispersion of titanium oxide containing at least titanium oxide fine particles each having an average primary particle diameter of 3 nm or more to 50 nm or less; a titanate-based surface treatment agent formed of a compound represented by the following general formula (1) : (R 1 O) m —T i—X n (1) where R 1 represents a methyl, ethyl, or isopropyl group; X represents -0-S0 2 -R 2 or -0-P (OH) 0-0-PHO-0-R 2 ; R 2 represents an alkyl or aryl group having 1 to 16 carbon atoms; m represents a numerical value of 1 or more to 3 or less, and n represents a numerical value of 1 or more to 3 or less, provided that m+n=4; a polyether-based dispersant; and an alcohol-based solvent, and an optical material containing the organic solvent dispersion of titanium oxide and a resin.
