Disclosed are: colloidal metallic oxide particles which can be dispersed in hydrophobic organic solvents, and the metal of which is at least one kind selected from the group consisting of Ti, Fe, Zr, Sn, Ta, Nb, Y, Mo, W, Pb, In, Bi, and Sr; a hydrophilic organic solvent solution of the same or a hydrophobic organic solvent dispersion solution having a water solubility of 0.05-12 mass%, and further disclosed is a fine powder of colloidal metallic oxide particles which can be re-dispersed in various organic solvents. To achieve this, silane treated modified colloidal metal oxide particles are used, wherein an amine compound and 1-4 silyl groups per 1nm 2 of surface area are connected on the surface of modified colloidal metallic oxide particles, said modified colloidal metallic oxide particles having a colloidal metallic oxide particle as the core thereof, and being covered by composite colloidal oxide particles formed from silica and stannic oxides such that the silica/stannic oxide mass ratio is 0.1-5. |
